Ferland Mendy of Real Madrid is likely to miss six weeks due to a calf injury

Prior to Sunday’s La Liga victory over Real Valladolid(6-0), Los Blancos announced that  Mendy had sustained a new calf injury. Once again, Ferland Mendy will be out for around a month  after suffering a calf injury in training.

A series of injuries haunts Mendy

Ferland Mendy has just made a full recovery after a two-month absence due to a thigh injury. But now he again faces a six-week absence due to a calf ailment significantly.

Until making a cameo appearance as a substitute against Barcelona during the international break.  Mendy. Carlo Ancelotti sidelined him after his injury in the Barca match. Real then revealed ahead of Sunday’s La Liga triumph against Real Valladolid(6-0)  that Mendy had suffered a fresh calf injury.  However, the severity of the ailment was not specified at that stage.

Mendy now appears destined to miss both legs of Real Madrid’s Champions League quarterfinal against Chelsea as well as the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal against Barcelona on Thursday.  If Real defeats Chelsea, there is hope that Mendy will be healthy for the remainder of the Champions League and La Liga, which doesn’t end until June 4. In contrast Alaba has rejoined the squad and may be counted on to fill Mendy’s spot while he recovers from his injury. In addition, Rudiger and Militao have developed a strong alliance in the middle of the defensive line.

In addition, Mariano Diaz and Antonio Rudiger are expected to be available for Thursday’s encounter.  Therefore Both athletes worked out separately on Monday but are expected to rejoin the team soon.

Manchester City and Arsenal line up £53m bids for Ferland Mendy

According to reports, Manchester City and Arsenal are gearing up for a battle to recruit Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy this summer.

Mendy moved to Bernabeu from Lyon in 2019. He has played 130 times for Los Blancos across all competitions. He scored five goals and gave ten assists along the way. Additionally,Mendy enjoyed success in the Spanish capital, winning two La Liga championships, two Spanish Super Cups, the Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup.

The France international has only made 25 appearances this season in all competitions as a result of injury issues. The fullback will miss a month of action due to a calf injury. He sustained while working out with his Spanish club.

Although Mendy still has two years left on his contract. There have been rumours about his future in  recent months. According to Fichajes, both Man City and Arsenal are interested in signing the defender this summer. The Premier League duo would be prepared to pay in the region of €60m (£53m) for his signature.
