Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage against an inspired Fulham side on Sunday.
The Reds needed Mohamed Salah’s second-half penalty to claim a point in London after they’d fallen behind to a spectacular opener from Bobby De Cordova-Reid in the 25th minute.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur remain tied at the top of the table after both were surprisingly held to 1-1 draw at Fulham and Crystal Palace respectively.
FULHAM 1-1 LIVERPOOL PLAYER RATINGS:
Alisson: 7 (MOTM)
Returning from injury, Liverpool’s No.1 outlined his importance with several key saves in the first half – without his input, the Reds would have been further behind at the break.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 6.5
Tidy enough with his deliveries but nothing good enough to unlock the Fulham defense. A rare poor display.
Fabinho: 7
He was Liverpool’s best defender on the day, held the defense together. Got away with a VAR penalty appeal which might have made Liverpool’s night even worse.
Joel Matip: 6
Looked uncomfortable with the Fulham attack. Subbed off at a half time with a back injury, which will be a big concern for injury ladden Liverpool. Matip was only senior centre-back available at Anfield.
Andrew Robertson: 6.5
A shaky display defensively as Decordova-Reid gave him a tough time. Almost had a howler right at the start of the second half. Recovered well towards the end.
Jordan Henderson: 7
The captain misplaced a few passes and was guilty of going aimlessly long too often, which Fulham’s defenders lapped up. He missed a great chance to equalise, but was shifted to defence after Matip injury and performed well at centre-back.
Curtis Jones: 7
The teenager looked like trying to make things happen, attempting to link with others and almost scoring a brilliant solo winner late on. Drove Liverpool on from midfield when Henderson moved back.
Georginio Wijnaldum: 6
Looked a little sluggish in midfield, which summed up the Liverpool display– but then his free-kick earned the penalty.
Mohamed Salah: 7
Fired one effort wide in the first half and slammed home the spot-kick. Took a couple of long-range shots but was quiet on Sunday.
Roberto Firmino: 5
A nice flick to set up Henderson’s chance, but that was about it, he struggled to get a toehold in the game. Another poor display.
Sadio Mane: 6
Always looked the most likely to make something happen, but just wasn’t his day.
Substitution:
Takumi Minamino (45′ on for Matip): 6
Wanted the ball and helped to force Fulham back.
Neco Williams (68′ on for Alexander-Arnold): 6
Offered energy down the right flank and was largely solid
Divock Origi (82′ on for Salah): N/a
