Germany’s “Sweeper-keeper” Manuel Neuer is very close to extending his contract with Bayern Munich. The Bavarians are also keeping Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller’s contract extension as a priority. However, Bayern are yet to begin discussions with Muller and Lewandowski to extend their stay at the Allianz Arena. They will reportedly begin talks with both of them after finalizing a new deal with Neuer.

The Bundesliga champions have been busy handing new contracts to their young academy graduates. Paul Wanner who made his debut for Bayern during a 2-1 loss against Monchengladbach is also on Bayern’s contract extension list. The 16-year-old Midfielder will see his deal expire within 6 months at the Allianz Arena. They are hoping to extend his contract beyond this summer.

Neuer, Muller, and Lewandowski are next up for Bayern. All three of them will become free agents during the summer of 2023. The situation regarding their contract extension is very different from each other. As for Manuel Neuer, the Bavarian captain held positive talks with the club over a new deal and things are proceeding well.

Muller on the other hand is not in a hurry to commit to a new deal. Both the club and the player are not rushing towards an extension and they will wait for the right time. Robert Lewandowski’s future at Allianz arena beyond 2023 remains doubtful as the Polish striker didn’t have a formal meeting with Bayern. Rumors are suggesting that he could be on his way to a new club next summer or after his deal expires.

After extending Kingsley Coman’s contract till 2027, Bayern will now shift their focus on extending deals for their “Big three”

Bayern Munich were handed a boost after Kingsley Coman agreed to stay with the club for 5 more years. The Frenchman has been a vital part of the club’s success since his arrival in 2015. He scored the winning goal for Bayern during the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League Final. His contribution to the club has not gone unnoticed and he will hope to win more Silverwares with the German outfit.

Meanwhile, Bayern legend Uli Hoeneß thinks that the club should now work on extending deals for Neuer, Lewandowski, and Muller. He shared his vision and thoughts about the Trio’s current situation regarding new contracts:-

“At the moment I cannot imagine the years 2024 and 2025 without this trio. I’m no longer in the driver’s seat at FC Bayern. But I think the people in charge are aware and will try to extend with these players. They are three different personalities, but they all have one thing in common: they give everything for FC Bayern.”

he added

“They could probably earn more elsewhere, but they still stay with us because they feel good. I always try to tell them that earning one or two millions more doesn’t matter. It’s important that they are happy. Robert Lewandowski is a vital player to us and has a contract until 2023. I think we’ll sit down to talk about a contract extension and I hope we’ll succeed in that.”

said Uli Hoeneß on “Mia San Mia”

It could be safe to assume that Bayern will hold meetings with Lewandowski in the coming weeks. They will reportedly hand a new deal with Neuer at the end of this season. Meanwhile, Thomas Muller might have to wait until next season to pen a new deal beyond 2023.
