Gundogan ‘s new destination is Barcelona

According to a new update from SPORT’s Ferran Correas, while the deal is not yet complete, major progress has been made and a contract is ‘practically closed’ at this time. Ilhan Gundogan, Gundogan’s agent/uncle, attended a meeting with Barcelona director Mateu Alemany at the club offices yesterday.
This was not their first meeting. Alemany dismissed the first meeting saying “a disagreement over Andreas Christensen”, who is also represented by Ilhan Gundogan.

Nonetheless, Gundogan’s ambition is progressing in the correct path. According to the source, the 32-year-old midfielder will sign a two-year contract with Barcelona, with an option for a third year. Gundogan will receive a gross salary of €12 million every season, with a net payment of €6 million after taxes.
Barcelona has shown “interest” in signing Gundogan’s Manchester City teammate Bernardo Silva. However, due to the club’s fragile financial state, the move was never a possibility.

Instead, they have effectively secured Gundogan’s signature. Barcelona values the midfielder’s ability to play as an interior or pivot. Hence, Young players like Gavi, Pedri, and Pablo Torre might benefit from his experience.

With a contract for Inigo Martinez already in place, Barcelona is now closing in on the Bosman deal of Gundogan. The club still needs to settle their Financial Fair Play difficulties in order to successfully register both of them and any other players they sign.
