India vs Lebanon match preview

Indian national football team

India will play Lebanon in the final match of the Hero Intercontinental Cup group stage after a narrow 1-0 victory over Vanuatu. On June 15, at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, the top two teams in the league will square off.

The Blue Tigers are in incredible form right now, having won their past four games. India easily defeated Mongolia 2-0 in their opening match with to goals from Sahal Abdul Samad and Lallianzula Chhangte.

While their offensive ability faltered against Vanuatu, their defence stepped up and dispersed their opponents. Sandesh Jhingan is the defensive captain for the Blue Tigers. He has a flawless record with four shutouts in as many games.

India secured their place in the top two with two victories, and they will face either Lebanon or Mongolia in the Intercontinental Cup final. But in Lebanon, they face their greatest obstacle yet. In the FIFA rankings, the Cedars are ranked 99th, two places higher than Igor Stimac’s team.

Lebanon defeated Vanuatu to kick off their Intercontinental Cup campaign. All three points were secured by goals from Nader Matar, Hassan Kourani, and Karim Darwich. Additionally, captain Hassan Maatouk contributed two assists and was crucial to the success of the team.

However, they were unable to maintain their advantage against Mongolia. Mongolia stayed firm and earned a crucial point despite Lebanon controlling the game and having most of the possession.

In order to qualify for the finals, Lebanon only needs one point. Although Mongolia can overtake them if they defeat Vanuatu by more than two goals.

Given their recent performance and home advantage, India are the slight favourites to win the game. However, Lebanon are a tough opponent who is equally capable of testing India’s defence and upsetting their game plan.
