About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Inter Milan marched on towards the Scudetto and dislodge Juventus from the title of Champions of Italy after they beat Atalanta at San Siro 1-0 in Serie A.

Milan Skriniar was the only scorer in the game who scored the huge goal on the 54th-minute mark.

The game between the two highest-scoring teams in Italy, however, it wasn’t a great spectacle for the football fans. But the result of the game will make the Inter fans very happy.

This win means Inter Milan went 6 points clear at the top from the city rival AC Milan. Inter are now on 62 points in 26 games. Atalanta who are chasing the top-four spot remain 5th with 49 points in 26 games.

INTER MILAN 1 – 0 ATALANTA TEAM NEWS:

Antonio Conte went with his preferred 3-5-2 formation for this big game. Inter’s forward partnership of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez led the line for the Nerazzurri. Between these two, they have got 31 Serie A goals this season.

New summer signing Achraf Hakimi was on the right-wing-back and Ivan Perisic was on the other side of the wing-back.

Gian Piero Gasperini went with 3-4-2-1 formation as well. The Columbian forward Duvan Zapata led the line for Atalanta who hasn’t had his best season so far.

INTER MILAN 1-0 ATALANTA POST-MATCH ANALYSIS:

It was a tactical battle between two very good tactical coaches. In the first half, Inter’s biggest chance was the miss-kick of Cristian Romero which almost went into the goal. However, goalkeeper Marco Sportiello headed out the danger brilliantly.

Inter tried to play out from the back but Atalanta’s pressing was very good. The Nerazzurri could not find spaces to play forward and to pass the ball to their forward men.

Atalanta got their best chance in the game into the first half when a great corner came to the box. But Zapata’s excellently taken head extraordinarily saved by Samir Handanovic.

In the second half, Conte’s side got their needed goal from a corner in a dull encounter. The ball came in and from a very crowded situation, Milan Skriniar finished the opportunity brilliantly. In the end, Conte’s boys kept the defence intact and Atalanta could not manage the equaliser throughout the rest of the game.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

Milan Skriniar(CB) – (7.5/10)(Inter Milan): Scored a very good goal in the second half. He also dealt with the challenge of Zapata very well and kept him quiet.

Samir Handanovic(GK) – (7/10)(Inter Milan): Made a brilliant save in the first half to deny Zapata and overall he was solid between the sticks.

Duvan Zapata(CF) – (6/10)(Atalanta): Started as the lone striker but didn’t have many chances to score and he remained quiet.

Inter Milan will play next away to Torino on 14th March in Serie A. Atalanta’ next game is against Spezia on Friday night in the league.
