Edu Garcia, a midfielder, is set to join Indian Super League club Hyderabad FC. The Spaniard was a member of the ATK Mohun Bagan team that finished second last season. Edu Garcia’s talents are also being sought by a number of other ISL teams.
“ATK Mohun Bagan and Edu Garcia have mutually decided to end the player’s existing contract. Hyderabad FC has been in talks to sign him for a while now and both parties are close to a contract agreement. As Edu is a free agent now, Hyderabad FC will try to seal the deal as soon as possible,”-sources
Edu Gracia’s rise in Indian football and What he will addto Hyderabad:
In the winter of 2019, Edu Garcia joined the former ATK FC. He created a powerful midfield duo with Manuel Lanzarote, but it wasn’t enough to propel the Reds and Whites further into the top four. Edu’s performance improved the next season, thanks to a significant change in the coaching staff. Gracia, who mostly came on as a substitute, went on a hitting spree in the first four games, scoring three times in less than 60 minutes of action.
His excellent form maintained as he settled into a permanent spot in the park’s centre. In the season final, he got the second goal in a 3-1 triumph over Chennaiyin, ensuring ATK FC win their historic third ISL title. Edu scored 9 goals and added 5 assists in one and a half seasons with the Kolkata giants.
His final season, though, was marred by injury. Due to injuries, he was forced to sit out about half of the season. His goal-scoring talents were also severely harmed since he only scored one goal in the previous season. Edu chose to break ways with the Mariners after a long season with the team.
Edu Garcia is preparing to travel south after a successful stint at the Heart of Indian Football. Last season, Hyderabad FC had a fantastic season but ended up missing out on the semifinals. A talented midfielder like Garcia would undoubtedly add flair to the centre of the park, assisting Hyderabad in reaching new heights.
