About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Last season’s ISL runners-up ATK Mohun Bagan have handed a one-year contract extension to their frontline striker and skipper Roy Krishna. The club announced the extension of the striker as a surprise to the fans while the fans celebrated Mohun Bagan day virtually on Thursday.

“I am honored to declare on a special day that I will be on the field again wearing the Green-Maroon jersey. I hope the members-supporters of the club will be happy and will support me like before,”– Roy Krishna told the ATKMB media

The 33 years old Fijian striker had an influential role in the Mariners’ last ISL campaign. Krishna guided his team to the finals netting 14 crucial goals while providing 8 assists across 23 fixtures.

FC Goa’s Igor Angulo and Krishna were the joint top goal scorer of the League. However, Angulo lifted the Golden Boot as he played lesser matches compared to Krishna. Krishna won his first-ever ISL Golden Ball last season for his exceptional performance for the ATK Mohun Bagan.

As per stats Roy Krishna also finished third on the players rating table with 7.79 ratings in his name.

Krishna will soon join the Mohun Bagan squad, as he is currently in Fiji with his family. But he said amidst the pandemic situations he is training at his home for the coming AFC Cup fixtures.
