Australian international Jason Cummings has been signed to a three-year deal by Mohun Bagan Super Giant of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). On Wednesday, the club made the signing official via its social media accounts.
“I have been observing Indian club football for the last few years. When Mohun Bagan Super Giant approached me, I started to inquire about the club and got to know about the rich heritage of this century-old club. Besides, this club has achieved the status of being the best club in India by winning the Hero ISL title. I am hopeful that I will help them add more trophies to their trophy cabinet in the upcoming three years,” Cummings declared after signing on the dotted line.
Senior campaigner Cummings has spent the majority of his professional football career in the United Kingdom before transferring to Australian team Central Coast Mariners during the winter transfer window of the 2021–22 season. He has a wealth of experience playing in the third- and second-tier leagues of England and Scotland, respectively.
The forward, a two-time league-leading scorer, Scottish Cup winner, and Scottish second division champion with Hibernian FC, is one of the Mariners’ most accomplished newcomers.

His most recent accomplishments with the Central Coast Mariners helped them win their second A-League championship ever. As he scored a hat-trick in their championship game against Melbourne City FC, the striker stole the show. Cummings made 50 appearances for the Central Coast during his stay there, scoring 31 goals and providing 12 assists.
He got a call from the Australian national squad in September 2022 as a result of his standout performances. The 27-year-old quickly earned a spot on the Socceroos FIFA World Cup 2022 roster. And played in just one match in the team’s 4-1 loss to France in their opening group stage match.
“Everyone knows how good of a footballer Jason is. He enjoys playing a highly attacking and pressing style of football, which perfectly aligns with my strategy. He possesses excellent ball control, creating space for others, and is clinical in front of goal. Another admirable quality of his is – that he is a perfect team player,” said head coach Juan Ferrando about Cummings’ playing abilities.
“It is a huge thing that a current World Cup player like Jason Cummings has agreed to come to India. This demonstrates the impact of the Hero ISL on the growth of Indian football,” Ferrando continued.
After the recent acquisition of Albanian forward Armando Sadiku, the Australian joins the Mariners’ squad as the second foreign signing during the current transfer window.
