Barcelona have signed a number of reinforcements for the squad this summer in order to mount a strong title challenge. Xavi Hernandez has overhauled the squad at the club in an attempt to strengthen the team. Jordi Alba is one of the players that the Manager has seemingly looked to replace.
Marcos Alonso has been signed this summer by the Blaugrana to add options for the left-back role. Chelsea signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and let Marcos Alonso join Barcelona in informal cash plus swap deal for the player. Jordi Alba is not guaranteed a starting spot anymore at the club. However, the player has vowed to stay at the club and fight for his place.
The Spanish wingback has ruled out a move away from the club and is focused on helping Barcelona. The wingback is a legend of the club and also took a pay cut last summer to help the club financially. The Spanish international is still an asset to the club and Xavi Hernandez does not want the veteran to leave the club.
Alejandro Balde is also an emerging threat to Jordi Alba
Barcelona is known for producing talented players from its world-famous academy, La Masia. The latest product of the academy to set alight the Spanish football is Alejandro Balde. The 18-year-old has impressed the club and Manager playing in the left-back role this season. The young defender has earned enough faith from Xavi Hernandez that he is afforded starts this season.
Xavi Hernandez has himself come out of the academy and thus has an extraordinary relationship with the young players. He has a lot of faith in the academy players and is not scared to involve them in the first team ahead of senior players.
Jordi Alba will need to step up his performance if he is to regain his place in the first team. The Spanish international will also look toward the FIFA World Cup and want to book a place for Qatar. The wing-back will look to force his way into the squad at Barcelona in an attempt to remain in playing form.
Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how Xavi Hernandez manages his squad full of star players. Hopefully, Barcelona will be able to achieve their goals this season with this crop of players!!
