Julien Duranville leaves RSC Anderlecht for Borussia Dortmund

During his childhood in Neerpede, Julien Duranville was a member of the talented 2006 generation of RSC Anderlecht. After donning the purple & white shirt for the first time, he showed his prowess until now. In every stage of the club’s youth academy, the winger, nicknamed “l’éclair,” was impressed with his lightning-fast speed and technical skill.

A contract tying Julien Duranville to the club until 2024 was signed in May 2021. He made his first-team debut on 22 May 2022 against Club Brugge in the season’s final match. Duranville became the club’s fourth youngest player. There are only three players who made their debuts in the first team earlier than him. Nii Lamptey, Paul Van Himst, and Romelu Lukaku are the ones to do so.

As part of the RSCA Futures, Duranville scored his first goal for the first team against OHL in September 2022.

Julien Duranville move to Dortmund

The club had already begun talks with Julien’s entourage to tie him to the club for several years. The club proposed a clear framework and trajectory for Julien’s future within the Belgian team. The player and his entourage, however, were more interested in moving abroad. And what’s better than Bayern Munich‘s fiercest rival Borussia Dortmund. All parties have benefited from a permanent agreement with Borussia Dortmund.

Sports managing director Jesper Fredberg said:

“We’re obviously sad to be losing a talent like Julien Duranville. Our ambition has not changed: that is to hand our own talented players their breakthrough in the first team and to give our fans the pleasure of seeing them at work. But given the specific circumstances regarding Julien, this is the best solution for the player and the club. Dortmund has an excellent track record in developing young talents as well, so after all we’re pleased that Julien will be able to continue his development in such a good club.”

In particular, all youth coaches and staff members at Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht wish Julien Duranville success in his future career. Neerpede will always welcome Julien.
