Juventus to steal Barcelona target Sergio Aguero?

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Sergio Aguero from Manchester City as support for Cristiano Ronaldo reports Sport Mediaset.

However, Aguero has been not a regular for the Cityzens in their current season under Pep Guardiola. The manager currently prefers Gabriel Jesus over him and thus, Aguero has been facing a lack of playing time.

The 32-year-old center-forward had also attracted FC Barcelona and now, Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus. His contract is set to expire on June 30, 2021.

Juventus to add more firepower with the addition of Aguero

As per the Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset, the Old Lady are in the race for Sergio Aguero. The Turin club is currently 3rd in the Serie A below the Milan clubs and needs reinforcements to fight for the title.

Aguero has been a crucial player whenever his current club had been on course to win their Premier League trophies. The Argentine veteran has scored 256 and assisted 73 times till now in his 381 appearances for The Sky Blues.

He has won 4 Premier Leagues, 5 League Cups, one FA Cup and 3 FA Community Shields till now. However, due to his age and his skill of picking up injuries lately, he is currently out of favour under Pep.

However, the English club wouldn’t be looking to let go a legend who has made history with the club. He even won the Golden Boot in the 2014-15 Premier League. But, as per the above media outlet, FC Barcelona are currently the front-runner in the race.

Aguero – first signing under Laporta era?

Sergio Aguero would love to play alongside his national teammate, Lionel Messi. For Argentina, Aguero has scored 41 goals in 97 appearances.

He is also rumored to accept a ‘pay cut’ so as to join the Spanish club. According to Mundo Deportivo, the 32-year-old striker had already contacted Joan Laporta about his willingness to play in the Camp Nou.

Aguero’s former teammate David Silva left Manchester City last season and joined Spanish side Real Sociedad. It would be interesting to see if Aguero follows his path of joining Spain. However, Barca looks like a great option for his further career.

Currently, City is monitoring his situation as he was prone to a lot of injuries. However, if the progress of Aguero’s recovery is better, then he might be given a new contract at his current club. He is open to staying at the club for a couple of more years if the club opts to give him a new contract.
