KERALA BLASTER 0-0 NORTHEAST UNITED FC : THE GAME

Kerala Blasters head coach Ivan Vukomanovic opted for a 4-4-2 formation. While Khalid Jamil also opted for a similar 4-4-2 formation. Both sides were keen on their attacking style but only one could emerge as the winner. Jamil was coaching his team for the second match of the season after being announced as the head coach for the 2021-22 season.

Both the sides were coming after harsh 4-2 losses in their opening match against Bengaluru FC and ATK Mohun Bagan. As a result, both teams were desperate for a win. It was an even contest with the Tuskers creating much of the chances while the Highlanders stuck to their typical attacking style of football.

V.P. Suhair wreaked havoc from the right half for the Highlanders while Vincy Barretto was impressive with his pace and agility. The latter was enjoying his first Indian Super League start and had a good performance replacing injured local lad Rahul K.P. After a successful fiery run towards the opponent defence from Barretto, Sahal Abdul Samad missed a glorious chance.

Vukomanovic tested the foreign Centre-Back duo of Marko Leskovic and Enes Sipovic. However, despite an excellent all-round performance, the Kerala side failed to capitalise on their chances. Sahal and Jorge Diaz missed golden opportunities once in each half while Khassa Camara wasted multiple long-range opportunities.

The Guwahati-based club failed to register even a single shot on target while their goalkeeper Subashish Roy was tested multiple times towards the end of the match. Blasters were desperate for a last-gasp winner but it was too late for Alvaro Vazquez to capitalize.
