Kerala Blasters FC complete multi-year deal with Harmanjot Khabra

Kerala Blasters FC have completed signing TFA product Harmanjot Khabra on a multi-year deal from Bengaluru FC. Blasters are roping in defenders to strengthen their leaky defense.

Bengaluru FC have officially confirmed the defender’s departure on Sunday and wished him luck for his future.

Chennaiyin FC signed Khabra during the Inaugural Season of the Hero Indian Super League, completing four seasons with Marina Machans. He joined the Blues through a domestic draft in the year 2017. He mainly plays as center midfield but can also play in right back and full back position.

The 33-year-old center midfielder has vast experience playing in the ISL. Till date, he has played a total of 146 ISL fixtures while playing across two different clubs.

The Blasters will be looking forward to presenting a stronger back line against the other clubs.

History of Kerala Blasters FC

Kerala Blasters FC was formed during the inaugural season of the Hero Indian Super League back in the year 2014. The Yellow Army qualified for the play-off that season and locked horns against Atlético de Kolkata in the finals.

However, they lost 0-1 to ATK in the inaugural Indian Super League Championship. In the 2015-2016 season Blasters finished eighth in the League table with just 13 points from 14 fixtures.

During the 2016 season, they entered the finals to face ATK again for the second time in a final match. The match ended with a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes, taking the battle to a penalty shoot-out Blasters scored 3 from their five chances but ATK smashed in 4 from the five chances. The Yellow army lost to ATK for the second time during the league finals.

After that, they did not qualify for the playoffs for 4 consecutive seasons. 2020-21 season was the worse season for the Blasters as they finished 10th on the table. Also conceded the second-highest goals during a season.
