Klopp Claims Chelsea as Premier League Favourites, Lampard Denies

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Chelsea are the favourites to win the Premier League this season. However, Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has denied the claims put by Liverpool boss.

The Reds thrashed Wolves 4-0 whereas the Blues defeated Marcelo Bielsa’s new look Leeds United by a margin of 3-1.

The Blues, currently at 3rd place, are two points behind the Reds and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table.

Klopp believes Chelsea and Lampard are the favourites!

Jurgen Klopp, the head coach of Liverpool FC had been impressed by the way Chelsea have been playing.

“They {Chelsea} have the biggest squad, great players playing well together after a rusty start – and they are full on. They have unbelievable opportunities to change in games and make changes from one game to the other – so that is it.”

– Jurgen Klopp

However, this looks like Klopp putting some amount of pressure on Lampard’ young title challengers.

Liverpool are also in the race for the title, however, the coach doesn’t think so. He is not thinking about the pressure faced by his defending Champions.

They are looking to defend their title and it seems teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are catching them!

Mind Games are of no interest to Frank Lampard.

Frank Lampard, head coach of Chelsea has however denied Klopp’ claims of his team being the favourites.

He claimed that Liverpool and Manchester City are still the ‘favourites’ to win the Premier League.

“Teams like City and Liverpool have had a lot of success with very established players in positions who have been performing at a really high level in the Premier League.”

However, when asked about whether Klopp is playing a mind game, Lampard said that maybe it’s Klopp’s opinion. He even hit back by praising the Reds.

“Even with injuries you look at Liverpool’s squad, the team they put out last night (against Wolves), they cope with those injuries. They have a big squad and most teams in the Premier League do.”

– Frank Lampard

Lampard claims that his squad is just work in progress and still many players have not got the “Premier League” experience.

The Pensioners have really seem to adapt to the PL with the defensive issues sorted out. The return of form of Olivier Giroud had been exquisite.

However, both the teams look dangerous as the race for the Premier League title is heating up with the Spurs returning back to the top of the table.
