According to Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona defender Jules Kounde is ready to quitting the club. According to the Spanish journalist, the former Sevilla superstar has given the club permission to listen to any market offers. The player appears is unhappy with his role at Barcelona, as he is not comfortable in the right-back position.
Jules Kounde is unwilling to play the role of a right back
During his first season at Barcelona, Kounde has appeared in 38 competitive matches and has six assists. However, he performed well in right-back position 21 times in these 38 games. The Frenchman expresses his dissatisfaction with his current position and wishes to return to his preferred position of centre-back. He recently spoke with Xavi Hernandez, who has been made aware of the situation.
It is worth mentioning, however, that Kounde has not yet submitted a transfer request. He is simply dissatisfied with the existing situation and has expressed his concerns to the coaching staff. Barcelona is well aware that the market price for the youngster has risen since last summer. However, neither the club nor the players have made a decision. Both parties appear to be content to wait out the situation and see whether it develops into something important.
Barcelona may have to contemplate selling the French international in the worst-case situation. @tjuanmarti reports further that: “The relationship between some people at FC Barcelona & Jules Koundé is being TORN! The player has had enough”. Although the Catalans will easily recover their investment from last summer, it will be a huge letdown given that Kounde arrived with a lot of promise.
However, Barça could attempt to fix the problem by signing a right-back this summer. Barcelona are considering couple of choices to reinforce right back position recently icluding João Cancelo. But it’ll be fascinating to see whether it turns into anything substantial. In case Kounde decides to leave, There are serious interest from Premier League clubs for Jules Koundé.
