Kylian Mbappe is one of the best forwards in the world at the moment. Often when he plays, one tends to forget that he is only 23 years old. During the international break, Mbappe was heavily involved in the France national side.

Kylian Mbappe claims he enjoys more freedom while playing for the France National team

After the 2-0 win against Austria in which he scored, Kylian Mbappe approached the media. During the conference, the Frenchman talked about how his role in the national side differed from the role he plays in the PSG squad under Galtier.

“I play differently.”

“I am asked other things here in relation to my club. I have a lot more freedom here. The coach knows that there is a number 9 like Olivier, who occupies the defences, and I can walk around and go into space.

“In Paris, it’s different, and there isn’t that. I am asked to be the pivot; it is different.”

Without digging deeper into his thoughts, he excused himself by reflecting that he takes pleasure everywhere.

On the French side, Oliver Giroud plays the number 9. While Mbappe and Griezmann supports Giroud. While on the PSG side, Mbappe is usually the focal point. Messi and Neymar act as the creative outlet behind him. On the France side, Mbappe does have the freedom to drift wide, get into spaces, score, and also look for his teammates. On the PSG side, though, Messi and Neymar exploit zone 14 from wherein they connect with Mbappe in order to release him. However, while playing club football, Kylian Mbappe has moments where he drifts into the left flank looking for a 1v1 with the defender. Mbappe will be an essential part of both the PSG side and the France National team in the World Cup.
