Leon Augustine signs for 2 years with Punjab FC

Recently promoted Indian Super League side Punjab FC have announced the signing of winger Leon Augustine for the 2023/24 season. The player has signed a deal for two years.

Leon Augustine: Career

Leon was born in Kozhikode, Kerala, where he started his youth career at Bengaluru B-team. After one year in the academy and the reserves team he was promoted to the senior squad of Bengaluru FC and was named in the 30 men squad for the 2018 AFC Cup. He made his professional debut for the senior side in the AFC Cup against Abahani Limited Dhaka. Leon spent the last five seasons with the former ISL champions. He has scored six goals during his tenure of 40 matches with the club.

Leon Augustine said,

“I am very excited to join Punjab FC. This team has a winning mentality and I really felt that in my conversations with the coach.

I want to challenge myself and this is a great opportunity. I can’t wait to pull on the shirt and do the best I can!”

Leon’s addition Punjab FC provides a dynamic presence on the wings and also enhances the team’s versatility in attack. Leon Augustine is mainly known for his speed, agility and excellent dribbling skills which help in putting constant pressure to opposition and create goalscoring opportunities.
