Leroy Sane, a 27-year-old German international, is supposedly being chased by Barcelona and Real Madrid ahead of the summer of 2024.
Leroy Sane is reportedly a well-liked player on the transfer market, according to a BILD story that SPORT relayed. The 27-year-old’s current agreement with Bayern Munich expires in just over 18 months, but he has not yet agreed to a new one. Real Madrid and Barcelona are two teams that are monitoring his position at the Allianz Arena in the meanwhile.
Leroy Sane has improved gradually after moving from Manchester City to Bayern Munich in July 2020. The German international made his way back to his own country following a successful time with the Premier League’s top teams. But during the last three years, he hasn’t consistently been Bayern Munich’s first-choice attacker.
Sane, though, has had a strong 2023–24 season thus far, scoring six goals in 10 games. The 27-year-old has since emerged as a key player for Germany’s national team. However, he will begin his final year of employment next summer. Furthermore, Barcelona and Real Madrid have both taken notice of the issue.
Leroy Sane will join where?
The former Manchester City forward has reportedly been linked to powerful Premier League figures in recent publications. In particular, Liverpool may be interest in signing him to replace Mohamed Salah if the Egyptian attacker decides to transfer to Saudi Arabia. But the rise of Barcelona and Real Madrid fundamentally alters the situation.
Given the uncertainty surrounding Ferran Torres’ future, Barcelona may need to add a new wide attacker during the summer 2024 transfer window. Since moving from Manchester City, the Spaniard has found it difficult to maintain a consistent position in the final third. Sane will thus be a desirable replacement for Torres if he departs Barcelona.
The Real Madrid team, on the other hand, does not have an abundance of attacking possibilities. The only known pure forwards are Joselu, Rodrygo Goes, and Vinicius Junior. Therefore, Real Madrid should look for a wide attacker to offer Carlo Ancelotti the flexibility to change up his formation.
In the upcoming months, Bayern Munich will try to sign him to a new deal. However, Barcelona and Real Madrid would probably strike if the two sides are unable to reach a deal on a new contract prior to the summer 2024 transfer window.
