Lewandowski to take Depay’s No. 9

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Robert Lewandowski has arrived at Camp Nou. The Polish forward made the switch from Bayern Munich to Barcelona after a long summer. The former Bayern man has played his first few pre-season games for the Blaugranas and impressed a lot. However, the 34-year-old is still to score though for the club. Xavi is really impressed with Lewandowski and believes that he will be unstoppable once he gets going.

Finally, Barcelona have a classic No. 9. But this will also mean Lewandowski will be dawning the number 9 shirt for the club. The No. currently belongs to Dutchman Memphis Depay. If reports are to be believed, then Depay will be stripped off the No.9 to make way for Lewandowski. Memphis Depay’s future at the club is also not known. Barcelona are looking to offload the dutchman if they get a worthy price.

The club has a surplus of attackers at the moment. New signings Raphinha and Lewandowski may just be guaranteed starters. Ousmane Dembele finally looks back to his best and will be challenging for a starting spot. Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres will also be fighting for a spot in the team on the left wing. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will most probably play second fiddle to Lewandowski. This just leaves no space for Depay to fit into the team.

Barcelona’s majestic transfer window 2022

If there is any question the whole world is asking, it is how Barcelona from a broke situation managed to splash so much cash. The Catalans from a situation of not being able to pay wages have ended up as the club with the most spending this summer. The likes of Raphinha , Kounde, Lewandowski , Kessie , Christensen have been signed this summer.

Moreover, they are still looking to Reinforce the midfield with rumors surrounding Frenkie De Jong. Bernardo Silva is rumored to be on their shortlist for the summer along with the likes of Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso. The new season is expected to be fruitful for the Catalans as the new signing will try to make an impact.
