Lionel Messi could leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer

Lionel Messi could leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer if they fail to win the UEFA Champions League this season. The Argentinian shockingly joined the Ligue 1 giants last summer after Barca failed to extend his contract. FC Barcelona were violating the rules in La Liga if they were to register Messi’s new deal and they are still under a lot of financial debt.

The talismanic forward left the Catalans after 16 years which came as a shocker for all the football fans around the globe. Lionel Messi eventually joined PSG as a free agent on a two-year deal. The Ligue 1 giants are desperate to win the UCL title and their hopes of winning the coveted trophy increased after Messi’s arrival at Parc des princes. Lionel Messi has won 4 UCL titles with FC Barcelona in 2005, 2009, 2011, and 2015.

The 34-year-old maestro could be known as the main “Man” of the team during his time at Barcelona. Paris Saint-Germain on the other hand are chasing the UCL trophy that has been eluding them since the origin of this tournament. The Parisians are hoping that the re-union of Messi and Neymar can make a difference. Kylian Mbappe will join the South-American duo in the front-3 who also has been linked with a move away from PSG.

Lionel Messi could force for an exit from Paris Saint-Germain, if they fail to win the UCL this season

The 7-time Ballon D’or winner has struggled to adapt to the gameplay in Ligue 1. He has found the back of the net just once and provided 5 assists out of 11 league appearances for Paris Saint-Germain. However, he has not failed to show his class in the UCL as he scored 5 goals during the group stages of the tournament.

Former Barcelona player Lubo Carrasco shared his thoughts about the future of Lionel Messi in Paris Saint-Germain:

“If he succeeds, which means winning the Champions League, he could extend his stay for another year. If PSG don’t win the Champions League then this year is going to be a long one. I don’t think he regrets his decision in a sporting sense, but on a personal level he realized he made a mistake.”

said carrasco to El Chiringuito TV.

Mauricio Pochetinno undisputedly has the best squad among all the clubs in Europe. His team has a huge potential of going into the finals and Pochetinno will be hoping to get Paris Saint-Germain their first UCL title. Meanwhile, reports from France suggested that pocketing came to know about Messi’s covid positive test through third parties.

With Messi not informing his head coach about his self-isolation due to covid-19, their relationship have raised eyebrows. Only a UEFA Champions League trophy this season can decide the fate of the Talismanic Argentinian forward at PSG.
