Lionel Messi finally looks settled in the French Capital this season

Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain signed arguably the greatest of all time last summer from Barcelona on a free transfer. However, the transfer did not work out well for Lionel Messi as he struggled to settle in at the French Champions. The Argentine did not light up the Ligue 1 as he did in La Liga.

Lionel Messi was unable to renew his contract with Barcelona due to financial woes and signed a two-year deal with the French club. However, the little magician was unable to make a major impact for Paris Saint-Germain last season as the club struggled to meet its expectations.

With an attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe, anyone in the world will expect the team to win everything. However, the Parisians were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 by Real Madrid.

2022/23 has started brightly for Lionel Messi

The Argentine legend has impressed for Paris Saint-Germain this season and already amassed over 10 goal contributions. Lionel Messi contributed to 26 goals across all competitions for the entirety of last season. However, the Argentinian international has already made 11 goal contributions in just 9 games this season.

Neymar has played with Lionel Messi at Barcelona before Paris Saint-Germain and knows him very well. The pair made a threatening trio with Luis Suarez at the Blaugrana and won the treble. However, the Argentine has struggled initially in France. The Brazilian has explained the reason behind this struggle in a recent interview.

The Brazilian winger said:

“I’ve known Lionel Messi for a long time. I was able to help him on the pitch and in training by talking with him. It’s hard to make such a change because he was at Barcelona for several years, and now everything has changed for him and his family.”

He further said that:

“It’s hard, but I think he’s getting better now, he feels at home. I want him to have fun, and I want us to have fun together. We know we have a lot of challenges ahead of us, but I’m sure we can overcome them.”

Let’s just hope the pair is able to weave their magic again and lead Paris Saint-Germain to great things this season. Everyone wants Lionel Messi to do well and the start has been bright this season!!
