Recently crowned champions of Hero ISL, Liston Colaco and people literally crucified 2-times I-League champion by 5 goals to 1.
As the squad were released, everyone was clear about coach Ferrando’s intention of winning. This is mainly because he wanted to end his bad streak against Gokulam Kerala FC. From starting there was no Dimitri Petratos, but the rest of the players didn’t let us feel that they were playing without their regular no. 9. From the first minuite of the game, the mariners were looking attacking with their intentions to score early.
It was Liston Colaco’s long-range curling effort that brought the first goal for the Mariners. And from the first minuite of the game, the dominance of the Mariners were prominant. The duo of Hugo Boumous and Liston Colaco were just awesome that day and Gokulam’s defense was just shattered by the foreward line of ATK Mohun Bagan. Now comming to the second part of the game, i.e., the second goal of them. It was a counter-attack initiated by their right full-back Ashish Rai who did send a long ball to Liston. The Goanese traps the ball and a blinder from Liston just left Gokulam Kerala goalkeeper Shibinraj Kunniyil dumbstruck.
And then at the stroke of the Half-time, it was magician Hugo Boumous who made it 3-0 for ATK Mohun Bagan FC. Kiyan Nassiri was the one who assisted Boumous for this goal. In the injury-time, it was himself Kiyan Nassiri who made it 5-1. This was from a miscommunicatiom between Shibin and Drall. But before that it was Manvir Singh’s powerfull short that made 4-0 in the match from a through ball from Boumous. The goal for Gokulam was scored by Mendi from a Omar free-kick. And an unmarked Mendi headed the ball inside.
Liston Colaco got his scoring boots after a long time
Liston Colaco scored only once in the ISL this season. But on Monday, within a space of 21 minutes, he scored twice to power the recently-crowned ISL champion ATK Mohun Bagan to a thumping 5-1 victory against Gokulam Kerala FC in the Super Cup football tournament. The ATK Mohun Bagan management was not at all happy with his performance in the ISL. But the way one of their main attackers got back amongst goals, they would really be happy.
In all, this match was all positives for the mariners. Juan also tested Arsh Sheikh, who can be the replacement of Vishal Kaith who can be injured in any way in a match. Also youngsters like Kiyan Nassiri and Lalrinliana Hnamte, were also getting prepared to face the big matches in future. Next, the mariners will play Jamshedpur FC and the malabarians will face the gaurs. We will have an exciting match ahead.
