About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Recently, Olympique Lyonnais striker Memphis Depay has been noticed by Barcelona. However, we learn that Barcelona is not the only club to have Memphis Depay as a target, Liverpool are also interested.

The gifted striker has been at Lyon since 2017. He has posted one of the best performances of his career to date. Depay has established himself as a key part of Rudi Garcia’s team, acting as both a consistent goalscorer and a creative threat. And this season, Depay’s exploits in front of goal have reached even more impressive heights.

His contract with Lyon ends on 30 June 2021. A few months before the end of his contract the player does not give up on his intentions to join Barcelona.

Liverpool are after Memphis Depay

The Spanish club and the English club seems ready to fight to be able to count the player in their team. Memphis spent 18 months in the Premier League with Manchester United. After a disappointing spell he left for France, and now Liverpool are looking to bring him back to England.

“If he has to leave for a bigger club than OL, I will set up my mind. If, on the other hand, he should stay, we will have participated in what will be an even greater story for him because it will mean that we have won something. “ – Jean Michel Aulas.

The Spanish club is heavily impacted by the financial crisis related to Covid-19. Joan Laporta, the Club President is trying to strengthen the team’s squad while making purchases at a lower cost.

The arrival of Aguero and Depay seems advantageous since both will be free this summer. However, both players have a high salary and are candidates for similar positions.

Barcelona may be waiting to see more clearly on the other positions before launching concrete steps with the player from Olympique Lyonnais. Liverpool can take advantage of this situation and grab Depay from under Barcelona’s nose.
