Liverpool must let Darwin Nunez start alongside Salah against Burnley

Liverpool will resume play on Boxing Day with an early evening match against Burnley in the Premier League. The team, having experienced point drops in their last two matches, seeks to regain momentum.

Certainly, Liverpool has exhibited sublime form this season, swiftly emerging as contenders for the title. However, consecutive draws at Anfield against Manchester United and Arsenal have hindered Jurgen Klopp’s side from claiming the top spot, leaving them one point behind the current leaders, Arsenal.

Liverpool is grappling with a growing injury list, posing a notable challenge for the team. Left-back Kostas Tsimikas had to leave the field against Arsenal with a suspected broken collarbone. While Andrew Robertson remains weeks away from returning after shoulder surgery.

Given Diaz’s current lack of form and fitness, it seems probable that Liverpool will field a frontline featuring Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, with Mohamed Salah naturally occupying the right-wing position.

Nunez can make a significant difference for Liverpool alongside Salah

At the age of 31, Salah left Oleksandr Zinchenko trailing in his wake. As he skillfully evaded the Arsenal defender to level the score last weekend. He emphatically netted a shot, marking his 16th goal of the season.

While Salah remains crucial for Liverpool, today’s match could be Nunez’s moment to shine. As the Uruguayan forward is eager to break free from a 12-match goalless streak.

Klopp has previously labeled the maverick as “unstoppable.” And although this may not consistently translate to prolific goal-scoring, Nunez possesses a diverse skill set. That makes him an ideal weapon to deploy against Burnley. The opposition is likely to struggle to contain his dynamic energy and incisiveness along the channels.
