Man United may very well make a similar howler in the January transfer market

madrid

For the third time in a row, Manchester United are looking for a short-term solution for their striker issues. First it was Odion Ighalo and then Wout Werghost. Neither were good enough for Manchester United at the time of signing and they certainly didn’t prove anyone wrong either.

This summer, the Red Devils spent £64 million on Rasmus Hojlund. While the Norwegian hasn’t exactly been a poor signing, he has struggled to score goals. He is yet to score a single goal in the Premier League, but has 5 goals to his name in the Champions League.

Manchester United once again looking for a striker in January

Will Manchester United sign an exciting new striker in January? Possibly. Stuttgart sensation Serhou Guirassy has been linked. The experienced Mauro Icardi has also been linked in recent weeks.

Another option is Sevilla’s bullish forward Youssef En-Nesyri. That’s according to reports from The Sun who suggest that with Guirassy unappealed by the project in Manchester. That’s why they have turned their attention to the Moroccan instead.

En-Nesyri not too better than Ighalo or Werghost

The nightmarish stints of Ighalo and Werghost are still fresh in the minds of fans. Manchester United fans certainly won’t appreciate another disappointing striker signing. Unfortunately, Youssef En-Nesyri, the player being linked isn’t much better than Ighalo and Werghost. Just like Werghost, the Moroccan is only good in the air.

The Sevilla striker sits inside the worst 1% for shot-creating actions, passes attempted and progressive passes. He also ranks in the worst 5% for successful take-ons and worst 12% for progressive carries. He is in the top 25% for for aerial duels won, but that’s about it.

Its true that Manchester United need a striker, given that none of their forwards have scored more than 2 goals. The fact that Scott McTominay is the club’s highest scorer with 5 goals, tell us how much they have struggled to score goals.
