Manchester City ready to battle with Liverpool for Toni Kroos

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Manchester City has reportedly entered the race with Liverpool to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos as per the report in Catalan outlet El Nacional

The 31-year-old joined La Liga giants back in 2014 from Bayern Munich for around €25 million. Since then, the German has become an integral part of Los Blanco’s system, winning three Champions League and two league titles at Santiago Bernabeu.

According to the recent reports, Liverpool has already expressed their interest in signing Kroos next summer and now Manchester City has also entered the race to acquire the Germany international.

The midfielder’s current contract will run until June 2023. The next summer will be the perfect timing to snatch the former Bayern man away from the Spanish capital.

Liverpool and Manchester City eyeing a move for Kroos:

Signing Toni Kroos will be a great acquisition for either Liverpool or Manchester City. The Reds have been looking to sign a creative midfielder since last summer.

Although Jurgen Klopp brought in Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich. The Spaniard hasn’t been able to replicate his old self and struggled with his injury issues.

On the other hand, with City’s Fernandinho reaching the last few seasons with the club. It is an absolute necessity to bring in an experienced campaigner who will be able to fill that void aptly for Pep Guardiola’s side.

So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the German midfielder beyond this season. Staying at the Spanish capital looking most likely at the moment. However, it will be an outstanding purchase for either Manchester City or Liverpool if they can sign the 31-year-old next summer.

With the Real Madrid man already reaching his 30s. It will be interesting to see how the midfielder can cope with the high-intensity nature of the Premier League. If he were to sign for either of the English giants.
