Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as a surprise name on the Manchester United list of potential future managers. There has been a lot of talk around Ancelotti’s future at the Bernabeu. Reports suggest Madrid’s president Fiorentino Perez wants Pochettino to head their new generation of Galacticos.
Mauricio Pochettino is a wanted man this summer. He currently manages PSG and is also Manchester United’s primary target. And now if the recent reports are true, Real Madrid are after his signature. If Pochettino makes the move to Madrid, it could kickstart a domino effect. PSG are likely to move for Madrid’s former manager Zinedine Zidane. Meanwhile, United are now looking at Ancelotti for the short term.
Manchester United Options other than Carlo Ancelotti :
Meaning Carlo Ancelotti could head to Old Trafford on a short-term basis. United’s list of managers boasts the likes of Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Luis Enrique, and Carlo Ancelotti.
If Pochettino chooses to move to Madrid, United will have to dig deeper. Erik ten Hag is used to working with a structured system at Ajax. The dutch has his reservations and will seek clarity over United’s stance. Meanwhile, Luis Enrique is spearheading Spain’s world cup charge in Qatar and is unavailable till December. Carlo Ancelotti remains the only potential option left for United.
Carlo Ancelotti is privy to the Premier League and will make a good fit for the short term. He has won several laurels all over the world and certainly fits the profile of a Manchester United manager. Manchester United are currently an unstable project and require someone who has loads of experience. Their current Caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick has steadied the ship. During that process, Rangnick has also offloaded a lot of deadwood by sanctioning the departures of Martial and Van de Beek.
A big overhaul is expected in the summer and Manchester United will want the best candidate to take over the project. A move for Ancelotti will make sense for both parties. United want someone to spearhead their project while retaining their identity. Meanwhile, Ancelotti will once again want to prove himself in the Premier League. The domino effect may certainly end with Ancelotti taking the reins at Old Trafford. Altogether a move to look out for the summer.
