About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

As Real Madrid announced on Tuesday that Sergio Ramos will leave the club this summer, the clubs who wanted to sign the center-back lined up. Currently as per several reports, Manchester United, Manchester City, and, Paris Saint-Germain are the top contenders to sign the world cup winner.

Ramos will be departing from Santiago Bernabeu after serving the royal white shirt for 16 years. In his long journey, the club captain went to lift 22 trophies to showcase his achievements. The Spaniard has 4 Champions League and 5 La Liga titles, with several other achievements in his trophy cabinet.

Despite being a defender, Ramos was able to score 101 goals for Madrid, while appearing for a record 671 times in the white shirt. However, he failed to leave with a good memory as Real Madrid finished this season without a trophy. The captain was only seen 25 times this season in which he scored 4 goals, all because he was suffering from injury.

Ramos wouldn’t have to leave this summer if he had renewed his contract in time. The club offered him a 10% pay cut with one more year at Real Madrid. While, Ramos wanted to sign a deal for 2 more years, which led to a late decision by Ramos. However, he decided to take the deal at last as he desperately wanted to stay in Madrid. But the club informed that the deal was gone as the time to sign the contract expired.

Following which the club captain will leave Madrid at the end of this month. However, Ramos has not revealed which club he will be joining for next season. But, as per sources he has been strongly linked with PSG and Manchester United. While the Red Devils are currently leading the line to sign Sergio Ramos.

Manchester United can lead the race for Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos didn’t want to leave Real Madrid, as he stated in his farewell speech. However, he had to take the harsh decision as he failed to renew his contract with Los Blancos. And now, the defender has to find a new club to sign him for next season.

It was believed that he would be joining Sevilla, as he was offered a five-year by his former club. But, he cleared the rumor by clearly stating that he had no interest to join Sevilla. However, he said that he had been approached by two clubs recently, but Ramos didn’t reveal the names.

As per several sources, the people have guessed that the two clubs may be Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United. PSG has been linked with Ramos for several months. Earlier it was reported that PSG had offered a deal to sign the defender but he didn’t give any thought to that.

But, now it seems PSG is backing off their deal as the French team faces a problem with his high wage demand. Ramos has requested €12m yearly salary from PSG, while the club wants lower. Following which PSG has decided not to pursue the defender until he decides to lower his wage demand.

And this problem has put Manchester United first in the race to sign Sergio Ramos. The Red Devils have been after the defender for years now. But they failed to sign him due to his loyalty towards Real Madrid. However, it is their best chance to land Ramos without dealing with Madrid or any transfer as he will be a free agent. So, let’s wait and see if Manchester United could land the center-back this summer to pair with Harry Maguire.
