Mateusz Klich calls ex-Chelsea player a ‘clown’

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Former Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has blasted Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger as the ‘worst’ player he’s ever come up against.

Rudiger played against Klich a couple of times during his time at Chelsea. He made a move to Real Madrid for free in the summer of 2022.

Mateusz Klich calls Rudiger a ‘clown’ in a tweet

Klich made the claim on his official Twitter account last night after a video surfaced of Rudiger making a studs up tackle on Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski, for which he did not even get booked. He wrote on Twitter: “Rudiger is the worst pick I’ve ever played. Clown.”

Zielinski is a former international teammate of Klich’s for Poland. That must’ve fueled the later to make such a comment. However, Mateusz Klich himself has bad memories from when Rudiger came up against Leeds while in the Premier League for Chelsea.

The incident where it all started

Mateusz Klich is likely to be looking back on a certain meeting between Chelsea and Leeds at Stamford Bridge almost two years ago now. Back in December 2021, Leeds were decimated by injuries. In a game against Chelsea on 11 December, Leeds were undone by two fairly controversial penalties. Those penalties allowed the Blues to steal a 3-2 win in stoppage time.

Rudiger was the man who actually won both penalties for Chelsea that afternoon. Moreover, Klich was the culprit for the 93rd minute one which saw Leeds undeservedly leave the Stamford Bridge empty handed. A big scuffle on the pitch at full-time then ensued, involving Rudiger, Junior Firpo and several more players. Hence, this match is something Klich clearly may not have forgotten in a hurry.

This is not the first time Klich has not been afraid to tweet his mind in recent months. Earlier he laughed off Max Wober labelling himself as a ‘warrior’ upon his Leeds exit.
