Following Paris Saint-Germain’s loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League round-of-16, Kylian Mbappe declined to comment on his future with the club. It was PSG’s exit from the round of 16 for the fifth time in the last seven years. They lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich in the second leg, resulting in a 3-0 aggregate defeat. In the match, Kylian Mbappe was effectively neutralized by the Bayern defence.

When questioned about his future with PSG after the current season, Kylian Mbappe did not make any firm commitments beyond the end of the year.

“No, no, I’m calm. The only thing that matters to me this season is to win now Ligue 1 and then we’ll see.”

Current Premier League Standings

“At the moment, I’m only talking about this season. Nothing else matters to me. We are disappointed.”

Mbappe praised Bayern Munich for their mammoth performance

Mbappe acknowledged the high level of competition from Bayern Munich. He recognized their potential to succeed in European competitions, implying that they were a more formidable side in that regard.

“Bayern have a great team, a great squad, they have a team that is built to win the Champions League. I said it at the start of the season during the first press conference that we were going to do our best.”

“Our maximum is this. That’s the truth. We need to do some self-reflection and return to our daily life which is Ligue1.”

While acknowledging the disappointment of the defeat, PSG coach Christophe Galtier shared Mbappe’s sentiments and believed that the match could have gone in his team’s favor if certain things had been different. Despite the loss, PSG still leads in the Ligue 1 standings.

PSG’s recent failure in Europe has put additional pressure on coach Christophe Galtier. However, like Mbappe, he declined to comment on his future with the club.

“We have to swallow it. It is too soon to talk about my future,” Galtier added. “I’m focused to the end of the season with a lot of energy and determination.”
