Messi and Griezmann keep Barcelona in the title race

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Messi and Griezmann lead Barcelona to a fantastic win against Valencia. As a result, Barca are still in the hunt for the La Liga title.

Lionel Messi scored twice and one of his goals was his 50th goal arising from a free-kick. However, Antoine Griezmann is getting back to his prime form at his new club as well. The 30-year-old forward would be keen on facing his former club in their next match.

The Barcelona skipper inspired his club to a unbelievable comeback victory after being 1-0 down in the 50th minute. As a consequence of the win, the Spanish giants are third in the standings level on points with Real Madrid, who have a better head to head record.

Messi and Griezmann – the new deadly duo of Barcelona!

Barcelona had a disastrous La Liga last season under former coach, Quique Setien. Despite finishing as league leaders in the first half, they dropped points surrendering the trophy to Real Madrid. Also, there was a lot of uncertainty about whether Messi and Griezmann would be staying at the club.

However, although Atletico Madrid leads the table, a loss against the Catalans in their next match would prove costly to their title ambitions. Although Ronald Koeman won against Valencia in a convincing manner, winning against the leaders would be a big task.

Now, with Griezmann picking up the pace, things might be looking good in the Camp Nou. The Frenchman’s relationship with Messi is looking better as Messi sacrificed by giving a penalty for Griezmann instead of completing his hattrick vs Getafe.

Both of them were once again on the scoresheet for the Blaugrana and were equally brilliant. They were just too hot to handle by Valencia after quick passes and high pressing. Messi scored the 1-1 equalizing goal after a rebound from the penalty he took in the 57th minute. It was an action-packed match with the final scoreline being 3-2.

The 34-year-old Argentine captain is in great form and is leading the race for Pichichi scoring 28 goals in 32 appearances so far. Also, it would be interesting to see how Luis Suarez fares against his best friend, Messi, and how Griezmann plays against his former club.
