Nestor Albiach joins NorthEast United FC

NORTHEAST UNITED FC

Nestor Albiach, also known as El Lince, has been signed by NorthEast United FC for the 2023–24 campaign. The Spanish forward joins the Highlanders as their third new foreign hire overall and seventh new signing. At the age of six, Nestor started playing football with Levante.

The adaptable attacker has primarily worked in Spain and the Czech Republic. There he spent time with Sparta Prague, the 13-time defending champions of the Czech First League. And where he also had an appearance in the UEFA Europa League. He played for clubs like Badalona and Numancia throughout the following two. And a half seasons after moving back to Spain in 2019. He also transferred to Rayo Majadahonda in 2021. There he established himself as a crucial member of their assault and made over 70 appearances for the team.

Nestor Albiach declared expressing his excitement about starting his new career in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL), “I am thrilled and happy with the opportunity to play in India and in the Hero ISL. Joining NorthEast United FC is a significant responsibility, and I made this decision because of the trust they placed in me and the ambitious nature project of the project currently underway.”

The 30-year-old is the second summer signing from Spain, and head coach Juan Pedro Benali explained the newest signing’s strategic considerations. “Nestor is a really unique player who can contribute throughout the offensive line. His arrival will provide quality and expertise to our inexperienced staff. He will coach our gifted young players and help them reach our shared goals because he is an experienced player, said Benali.

“We are thrill to have Nestor join our ranks, given his exceptional skills, vast experience, and immense potential,” NorthEast United FC CEO Mandar Tamhane said in reference to the acquisition of Nestor Albiach. He will undoubtedly improve the calibre of our team, giving our assault more depth and potency. We are convinced that given his potential. He will succeed in the Hero ISL and be a key factor in taking our team to new heights.
