Nordi Mukiele catching the eye at Real Madrid

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

RB Leipzig right-back Nordi Mukiele is now one of the top targets for Spanish giants Real Madrid. Los Blancos are desperate to strengthen their defence and wants the 23-year-old.

This is according to news outlet Fichajes. The news suggests that Real Madrid consider Mukiele as a less expensive option that can provide depth in the right-back position. The French defender has a contract with Leipzig that ends in the summer of 2023.

Daniel Carvajal has been plagued by injuries forcing Real Madrid to use Nacho Fernandez and Lucas Vazquez in the right-back position. Nordi Mukiele has been excellent for RB Leipzig, mainly in the right-back position. His contract situation meant that Madrid could sign him for cheap in the next summer.

REAL MADRID ADDING MUKIELE TO WISHLIST

Nordi Mukiele has stepped up his game this season, scoring twice already from his 11 appearances. The French right-back has made 120 appearances in total for Leipzig across all competitions. He is a very versatile player who can also play in the centre of the defence or the midfield as well.

But the player is not showing any intention of renewing his contract. This will put Leipzig in a situation as they would not want to see him move for free. Hence Mukiele could be sold next summer for a lower price.

This is one of the reasons for the interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have issues in their right-back position and Mukiele is a good fit. But more importantly, the club does not want to spend big on that position.

As per reports, Real Madrid is planning a massive summer transfer window. The club wants to sign the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland and Paul Pogba new summer and this will restrict their funds for other positions. Mukiele will hence be a good option and at 23 has the time to develop. Apart from Real Madrid Manchester United are also interested in the player and is monitoring his situation.
