Romain Philippoteaux, a French midfielder, has had his contract with NorthEast United FC extended, the team announced on Thursday via social media.
After playing 10 seasons in French football’s first and second divisions, the Frenchman made his Hero ISL debut with NorthEast United FC in the 2022–23 season. This was the player’s first experience playing outside of France.
Philippoteaux, who primarily plays as a midfielder, can also play wide and on the flanks. The 26-year-old is a left winger, attacking midfielder, and central midfielder while playing with the Highlanders.
In 18 games for the Guwahati-based team during the dismal Hero ISL 2022–23 season, which saw them finish last in the standings, he amassed two assists and two goals.
He assisted the Highlanders twice in addition to scoring twice, including a fantastic free kick against Bengaluru FC in Guwahati. More than merely an attacking midfielder, Romain is. He stands out from other players because of his high degree of versatility.
