Odisha and Tamil Nadu win with ease

On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Odisha defeated Jharkhand 2-0 to begin their Hero Senior Women’s National Championship 2022–23 campaign. The match took place at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana.

At the break, the winners had a 1-0 advantage. The winning team’s goals came from defender Karishma Oram and captain Pyari Xaxa.

International India In the seventh minute of the game, Pyari Xaxa scored the game’s first goal when she rose tall in the penalty area to meet a corner ball from Malati Munda. Odisha took the lead when Pyari Xaxa’s spectacular header into the top corner of the net.

Through another set piece manoeuvre in the second half, Odisha increased their lead by two goals. Defender Karishma Oram met Jasoda Munda’s inch-perfect cross from a corner kick inside Jharkhand’s box and headed the ball beyond Jharkhand custodian Anjali Munda.

Karishma Oram was selected as the game’s MVP.

Major victory for Tamil Nadu

At the GNDU Main Ground in a Group B matchup, Tamil Nadu defeated Karnataka 4-0 to start their campaign.

Tamil Nadu has started the competition off perfectly thanks to goals from Yuvarani R, Indumathi Kathiresan, and a brace from Sandhiya Ranganathan in the second half.

Tamil Nadu had to wait until the first half’s extra time to break the tie. Just before halftime, midfielder Indumathi Kathiresan gave Tamil Nadu the lead. In the 49th minute of the game, Sandhiya Ranganathan increased the lead to 2-0. In the 60th minute, Yuvarani R made it 3-0, and Sandhiya Ranganathan scored her second goal of the game to make it 4-0 for Tamil Nadu. Sandhiya won the award for Player of the Game.

Punjab and Chandigarh play without scoring

Chandigarh is the venue. In a Group A match at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana, Punjab failed to score. Numerous times, both teams came very close to scoring, but none were able to do so in the end.
