Palmer believes Chelsea star playing only 1 match will impress all

Cole Palmer has tipped one club teammate to succeed at Chelsea following a difficult season. Unlike many in the Blues squad, Cole Palmer was in electric form last season and led the way for others around him. The 22-year-old attacker, who’s in England’s preliminary squad for this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, emerged as the talisman at Stamford Bridge.

He scored 25 goals and created 15 assists in 45 Chelsea appearances. Interestingly, Palmer has now predicted that one Chelsea teammate who barely kicked a ball last season has a big future ahead of him. Chelsea’s Palmer is confident that Romeo Lavia will end up showing everyone how good he is next season once he’s fit again.

The 20-year-old midfielder only featured in one game throughout the whole of an injury-hit 2023/24 campaign. Which goes down as a horrible debut year in west London for him. However, he’s just received some kind comments from Palmer, who he previously played with in Manchester City’s academy before reuniting at Chelsea.

Palmer says about Lavia in the English press:

Palmer told SPORTbible: “One person I’ve played with [who is good] is Romeo Lavia. We’ve not seen him this season because he’s been injured for a full year but I think he’s one that, when he gets playing everyone will think, ‘Oh, he’s really good’”. There’s no doubt that Lavia will feel like a new signing this summer after playing just once last year.

The Belgian defensive midfielder arrived from Southampton a year ago with so much potential and quality, but he’s had a couple of long-term injuries (ankle and hamstring) wreck his first season. When fit again, the young midfielder will be a great addition to the side. Journalist Simon Phillips has reported via Substack that Chelsea believe Lavia is a super talent on par with Palmer.

There’s a belief the deep-lying midfielder could thrive under incoming Blues head coach Enzo Maresca.—In a difficult season for Chelsea, Cole Palmer has tipped one club teammate to come good.Cole Palmer, unlike many of the Blues squad, was in electric form last season, leading the way for others around him.
