Players who played their last match for Real Madrid

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Real Madrid went through a horrible season this year after they finished 2020/21 without any silverware. They managed to qualify for the Champions League semi-final but were beaten by Chelsea and now many of their star players may be leaving the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Los Blancos went on to finished second at the La Liga table with 84 points in 38 matches. They fell short of two points as compared to city rivals Atletico Madrid. They were also thrown out of the Copa Del Rey in the round of 32 by Alcoyna.

We cannot be harsh on them, as they suffered some huge blows during the season. They had almost a total of 65 injuries and suspensions due to COVID-19. We should admire the fact that they still did not give up till the last day of the season.

The fans may have seen some of the players for the last time in the royal white shirt against Villarreal. They are many players who have been lined up for a transfer, while some are on the verge of leaving the club because they failed to agree on a contract extension.

Real Madrid might be seeing a drastic change in the next season, as some of their favourite players will be leaving the club in this summer transfer window.

5 Players who played their last match for Madrid

Lucas Vazquez

Lucas Vazquez is a workhorse and a utility player for Real Madrid, the 29-year-old could certainly be considered as the most hardworking one, but he could be on his way out next season as his current contract runs out in June.

The right-winger wants a two-year extension along with an increase in his salary. However, Madrid is willing to offer either a single-year extension with no change in salary or a two-year extension with a 10% deduction.

Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos could well and truly be out of Real Madrid next summer. The defender is on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain, who are willing to offer him an enormous contract. On the flip side, Real Madrid prefers to respect their policy of renewing contracts of players past the age of 30.

Los Blancos are willing to offer him a one-year extension with a 10% reduction in his wages. However, the Spaniard continues to push for an increment in his wages with two more years. This difference between Ramos and the club has lead to rumours about him leaving the club.

Alarcon Isco

Zinedine Zidane wanted Isco to be part of his plans and had lately been using the midfielder more than ever. However, Isco himself wants more and is in search of a club where he could be a potential starter. The Spanish midfielder has been on the radar of Arsenal, although there are no offers for Isco on the table.

Marcelo

Real Madrid has decided against giving Marcelo a new contract and he will leave Bernabeu this summer. He has played his way into Real Madrid over the last 13 years. The Brazilian has played fewer minutes with Ferland Mendy the preferred option on the left flank of defence. Madrid has decided that he can no longer deliver the performance they want from him, and they want him off their wage bill.

Raphael Varane

The French defender is ready to end his ten-year stint at the Spanish capital and is in search of a new challenge as he approaches his peak. Varane is reportedly interested in securing a move away from the club preferably the Premier League.
