With two exceptional players in his position, Barcelona winger Raphinha was discussed as an option for collecting revenue for the club through a transfer move this summer. Xavi Hernandez still favours Ousmane Dembele on the right side of the attack. However the Brazilian insists he has no plans to leave.
Raphinha confirms that he will stay at Barca for next season
Raphinha said firmly to MD that:
“I will continue at Barca next season and the one that comes, and the one that comes, I have many years of contract and I hope to fulfill those years and many more”
He goes on to state that even though the first few months at the club were challenging, he now feels completely comfortable.
“Barcelona is a city that I love, Brazilians are very happy here. My first six months were difficult. It was a start to the season in which I scored few goals, few assists and did not have a direct role in the team.”
“But then I began to adapt better, my teammates helped me a lot,” he said.
Raphinha started the season switching between the left and right wings until telling Xavi that he would rather sit than play out of place on the left side. His connection with his manager, on the other hand, appears to be positive.
“We have a coach who perfectly knows the way Barcelona play, someone who knows the club perfectly. Xavi knew what he could do with this group.”
If Dembele is fit to compete for the entire season, which remains a question mark, Raphinha may be compelled to review his starting position. This has also become a challenge for Barcelona in recent seasons. While they could lure players to join with the promise of the honour of playing for the club and the pleasant lifestyle on the seaside, convincing them to leave is far more difficult.
