RB Leipzig completes amazing Andre Silva deal

RB Leipzig completes Andre Silva move

RB Leipzig have made an impressive signing as they secured the signature of Portuguese striker Andre Silva. Silva, who played for the Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt will add much-needed firepower for Leipzig next season.

The Portuguese striker has completed the medical with Leipzig and has signed a five year deal with Die Roten Bullen. Andre Silva scored an impressive 28 goals in the Bundesliga last season, which earned him his new move.

The transfer fee for Andre Silva is reported to be around €23 million which could go up to €35 million, as reported by Bild. The 25-year-old was linked to multiple clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham, but Leipzig was able to complete the move quickly.

IMPRESSIVE GOALSCORER

Andre Silva has been impressive for Frankfurt last season. The Portuguese striker scored 28 goals in the league for his club, breaking the record of most goals in a Bundesliga season by a Frankfurt player. Only Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have scored more goals than Silva in Europe’s top five leagues.

The Portuguese striker is an excellent finisher of the ball. He likes playing short passes and also laying off balls for his teammates. Silva is also a strong header of the ball and has featured in the Euro 2020 for Portugal. He has appeared 42 times for his national team and has scored 16 goals for them.

Andre Silva started his career with Porto and earned his first big move to AC Milan in 2017. His time at the Italian club was mixed as he couldn’t cement his place in the team. Milan soon sent him on loans to Sevilla and later to Frankfurt. His impressive performance on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt made the Germans sign him permanently in 2020.

ANDRE SILVA THE PERFECT MAN FOR LEIPZIG

RB Leipzig are going through a season of change like many other German clubs. Manager Julian Nagelsmann left the club to join Bayern Munich and was replaced by Jesse Marsch. The club also sold their defenders Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate to Bayern Munich and Liverpool respectively.

One position that Leipzig was desperate to strengthen was the centre-forward role. The club couldn’t replicate the goal output of Timo Werner last season with their existing forward line. The attacking options Hee-chan Hwang, Yussuf Poulsen and Alexander Sorloth have only managed to score 10 goals in total in the Bundesliga last season. Though Leipzig conceded the least goals in the league last season, their lack of goals ultimately cost them the title.

Hence signing Andre Silva is the perfect solution for their problem. In the Portuguese, the club can hope for 20 plus goals for a seasoned player who is in his prime. Leipzig will also be able to weaken a rival for them in the league as they took the best player from Frankfurt. Andre Silva will join the team after his vacation in the mid of July.
