La Liga giants Real Madrid are very serious about signing RB Leipzig defender and Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol. According to the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Real Madrid and Chelsea both want to sign Josko Gvardiol. However, Real Madrid doesn’t want a winter move in between the season but Chelsea’s interest might force the defending Champions League winner to enter the bid in this January.

Gvardiol: One of the best defender

In the 2022 World Cup, Gvardiol’s performance was impressive and fabulous. He was shining like a gem throughout the world cup campaign. And this has attracted the clubs like Real Madrid and Chelsea to hire him. Not only in the World Cup, but with RB Leipzig, he had outstanding stats.

The Croatian has played 65 games for Leipzig so far, contributing three goals and four assists. Gvardiol played the last game of this World Cup yesterday against Morocco and scored the first goal for Croatia. He has taken 12 defensive actions against Morocco and secured 3rd position in the Qatar World Cup.

Real Madrid are serious about signing Josko Gvardiol

After the heroic performance for his country and the club, Gakpo caught the attention of Real Madrid and Chelsea. Due to the inconsistent form of Ferland Mendy and the likely departure of Nacho Fernandez, the Spanish Champions want to sign the 20-year-old Croatian centre-back.

Real Madrid’s plan is to shift David Alaba to the left-back position and adjust Gvardiol with Antonio Rüdiger and Eder Militão in the defence line.
Los Blancos has already submitted an offer and are ready to invest in the defender. They think Gvardiol is a versatile player and can play as a centre-back as well as a left-back. However, signing the Croatian defender won’t be icing on the cake as Chelsea is also ready to break the bank.

Therefore, it would be really interesting to witness who will win this race in Gvardiol signing. Chelsea is adamant to sign the Croatian youngster in the January transfer and Real Madrid might also dip their toes in the winter transfer.
