Real Madrid continues to monitor the situation of Kai Havertz

Over the last week, there has been a lot of discussions regarding Kai Havertz in Madrid. The German international was one of Real Madrid ‘s choices to bolster the attacking department ahead of the new season, but there appeared to be little development on that front.

Real Madrid will not pay more than €50 million for Kai Havertz deal

Kai Havertz has struggled at Chelsea since his arrival in September 2020. The former Bayer Leverkusen player is one of the world’s greatest talents in his own right, but his performances in London have cast doubt on his future. In 35 Premier League appearances for Chelsea season 2022/23, the 23-year-old scored 7 goals and contributed one assist. Furthermore, he averaged 1.1 vital passes per game and generated five major chances. At this point in his career, pressing the restart button could do Havertz a world of good. Given Chelsea’s desire to sell players, a departure is not ruled out. Hence Real Madrid is thought to be one of many clubs interested in signing him.

Los Blancos are still keen to sign the German international, according to SPORT1. They do not, however, want to pay more than €50 million for his signature. Chelsea, on the other side, wants €60 million in cash with no bonuses. Havertz has several alternatives on the table, but is currently deferring them in anticipation of a move to Real Madrid. After all, it is his desire to play for Los Blancos. A player of his calibre would fit right in with current Real Madrid squad. The Merengues, on the other hand, have their priorities fixed, and the need of the hour is an out-and-out center-forward. Any other position is of secondary importance.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Merengues were no longer interested in Havertz and that his deal was completely off the table for a variety of sporting and financial reasons. Toni Kroos’ influence may have had a role in the U-turn. Havertz is well-known to the German star, who sees him as a great match for Los Blancos’ attack. Given his friendship with Carlo Ancelotti, Kroos’ opinions carry a lot of weight.

Los Blancod priortize Harry Kane move over Kai Havertz

However, as things stand, ‘Operation Havertz’ may be tough. This is because Real Madrid are already seeking a deal for Harry Kane, who is the best potential replacement for Karim Benzema. The veteran forward has recently joined Saudi Arabian giants Al-Ittihad ahead of the new season. Kane has so emerged as Los Blancos’ transfer priority. Unless Real Madrid has a clear understanding of the Kane situation, they are unlikely to spend money on Havertz. Nonetheless, the club might decide to examine the German international’s position this summer.
