As per several reports, Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Juventus backline star Matthijs de Ligt for a probable swoop next summer. There is no doubt that the current Madrid side needs reinforcement in the backline as they lost Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. And while they got hold of a quality player in David Alaba as a free agent but they need more reinforcements in defence. Following which Real Madrid will join the race for Matthijs de Ligt with Chelsea also in the line.

De Ligt rose to the top charts after showing promising performance for Ajax in the 17/18 and 18/19 seasons. The Dutchman leading the backline for Ajax, helped them qualify for the Europa League final in 2017/18. And helped the club reach the Champions League semi-final in the 2018/19 season.

Following his top performance, he emerged as a top target in the 2019/20 summer transfer window. And the race for signing De Light was won by Juventus, as the old lady paid €75 million.

Taking time to settle in Italy, the dutchman made some mistakes in his first couple of months. But as he learned from that he replaced veterans like Leonardo Bonucci and Georgio Chiellini in the backline.

To date, Matthijs de Ligt has made 78 appearances for the old lady, but coming next summer his time in Italy might end. Seeing Juventus’ recent performances, they are not the same club they were before.

As the Italian giants finished fourth in the Serie A last season after struggling a lot. While Juventus have failed to win their last three games in the league this season. Following which the Dutchman might consider leaving next summer.

Currently, there are two clubs in the race for De Ligt, Real Madrid and Chelsea. Don’t know much about the Blues but the Whites are in need of a defender. And Dutchman will be a perfect fit in the Madrid backline, looking into his young age and abilities.

As per the report, Los Blancos might be considering a swap deal for De Ligt as they will be offering Federico Valverde. But personal opinion, Real Madrid will not let go of their future midfield star after signing him until 2027. So, the Spanish giants might be paying cash to sign Matthijs de Ligt permanently.
