Real Madrid might settle with Joselu after lowering their ambitions

After the departure of one of the greatest strikers in the white Real Madrid shirt, Karim Benzema, Los Blancos is targeting the top attacking players in the game, but their ambitions might be far more simple. Brahim Diaz, who is returning from a loan stint at Milan, as well as Jude Bellingham and Fran Garcia have already been signed by Los Blancos this summer.

Real Madrid looks forward to sign Joselu

Cadena Cope claims that Real Madrid will only complete one more move this summer. It’s unlikely that any of the speculated transfers for Harry Kane or Kylian Mbappe will ever happen. Joselu Mato will be Real Madrid’s last transfer instead. With 16 goals in La Liga, the Espanyol attacker finished last season as Spain’s third-leading scorer, just two goals below Karim Benzema. Despite representing a team that had been relegated, that is a great achievement. Joselu, a striker who was raised at La Fabrica, attended the UCL final where Real Madrid defeat Liverpool 1-0 in the 2022 Champions League.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Los Blancos are putting the finishing touches on their new signing of the summer. He further stated that the club and the Spanish forward have already reached a personal agreement. Romano tweeted the update, saying:

“Real Madrid are working on key, final details of Joselu deal in order to get it done in the next days. It’s up to Madrid as deal would happen at very favourable conditions. Personal terms already agreed last week as Joselu dreams of this move, waiting for Real.”

Los Blancos must sign a striker for next season

However, a lot of people believed Joselu to be Benzema’s backup option rather than starter overall. It’s possible that Real Madrid will view Rodrygo Goes as a more viable centre forward option in the upcoming campaign. However, that will undoubtedly be a setback for Real Madrid if that turns out to be the case. Joselu is a fantastic forward. However even a 33-year-old veteran from Espanyol can’t be compared to the typically flamboyant signings Real Madrid have made throughout their history in the striker position.

It would also be surprising if Real Madrid only had five forward options for the upcoming campaign. Joselu, Alvaro Rodriguez, Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, and Brahim are the five options while Valverde can also play on the right.
