Real Sociedad outraged as FC Barcelona meet the agent of Martin Zubimendi

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Earlier it was reported that Arsenal are favourites to sign Martin Zubimendi ahead of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Bayern were unwilling to match the Spaniard’s release clause of €60 million, and this sum just makes Zubimendi a dream for Barca.

However, as per latest reports, the Spanish giants are still chasing the defensive midfielder. Reports claim that Barca’s sporting director, Deco, met with the player’s agent. This was backed up by Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish outlet also discussed Arsenal’s interest in the 25-year-old.

The sporting director of Barcelona meets the agent of Zubimendi

Earlier this week, Deco invited Inaki Ibanez, Martin’s agent, for a meeting. The representative from the La Liga giants again conveyed the club’s interest in his client. But the director is also aware it won’t be easy since La Real are requesting €60 million for the deep-lying midfielder.

The future of Zubimendi ‘seems uncertain’ at the moment. Real Sociedad not qualifying for the Champions League is a factor that’ll have an effect on his future. But Mundo explained that there are other factors as well that will make the Spaniard either accept or reject offers coming his way.

Arsenal well-placed to sign Zubimendi

Mundo also mentioned Arsenal and Bayern Munich, apart from Barcelona, to be interested in Zubimendi. They even claimed that the north London club have ‘always positioned themselves’ to secure the 25-year-old’s services.

Meanwhile, Estadio Deportivo say that Real Sociedad are ‘outraged’ after Zubimendi’s agent met Deco, and have made it clear that he can only leave if his €60 million clause is activated. The outlet further claim that Arsenal and Bayern ‘have shown their willingness to pay’ the player’s release clause. Moreover, given how much Zubimendi loves his current club, he himself will probably prefer to join someone who hasn’t outraged La Real.
