Reece James can expect a  £90 million bid from Real Madrid

Real Madrid, the La Liga winners, are reportedly willing to pay £90 million this summer to get Chelsea  right-back Reece James. Reece James has reportedly emerged as Real Madrid’s #1 target,  per a report by Football Insider. The Chelsea fullback is targeted by the defending La Liga winners in the  summer transfer window. And they are prepared to submit a proposal of £90 million to sign him.

Real Madrid crave for a fullback namely Reece James

After starting the 2019–20 season as a regular for Chelsea,  Reece James has advanced significantly.  The English international is just one of many academy graduates who defied expectations  to play a key role for the Blues. He is also one of the world’s top full-backs.The 23-year old  has also made a name for himself in the English national team, where he faces off against a number  of right-backs.

Nonetheless, James’ 2022–2023 season has been disappointing because of ongoing injury issues.  And as a result, he has played for slightly over 1,500 minutes. James has been nothing but reliable for Chelsea since making his debut in the 2018–19 campaign, despite his injury concerns this year. He has played for the Blues in over 140 games, scoring 11 goals and assisting on 20 more. Also, he has two titles to his name from the club, including the UEFA Champions League.

But, this has not put off potential suitors, including Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid ‘are HUGE admirers of Reece James and have put him top of a shortlist of potential right-backs to sign”

The Chelsea fullback is a target for the current La Liga winners. They have been monitoring James’s progress since he became a regular for the west London club. Yet given Dani Carvajal’s recent inconsistencies, Real Madrid’s persistent interest in the youngster is logical.

The experienced Spaniard has experienced fitness problems recently. Moreover, Lucas Vazquez is no longer a dependable Real Madrid backup right-back. Also, Real Madrid must sign a top-tier right-back because Alvaro Odriozola is not in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. James has therefore become a potential target.
A summer transfer, though, may be difficult given Chelsea’s reluctance to go with the England international. Yet Los Blancos will put Chelsea to the test with a bid of about £90 million. Although it is a significant cash, the west London club might not be sufficiently enticed.

Chelsea must be aware of Financial Fair Play Sanctions

In order to avoid Financial Fair Play Sanctions, the Blues must sell a few players.  James is among Chelsea’s top players, so a sale is incredibly unlikely for £90 million.  However, according to recent sources, the 23-year-old does not want to leave Chelsea.  Even though he wants to sign with Real Madrid, it probably will not happen early.
