Just recently, Sky Sports News in England reported about Barcelona identifying Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their main target to reinforce their striker position in the upcoming transfer window. Nevertheless Fabrizio Romano said Athletico Paranaense’s Vitor Roque remains the preferred choice for Barcelona to reinforce their centre-forward position. This is despite previous reports that Barcelona making Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang their priority target.

It seems that Roque is a long-standing target for Barcelona. He has expressed his desire to play for the club next season. According to reports, his father and agent recently travelled to Catalunya to discuss the club’s plans for the 18-year-old.

Will Vitor Roque play for Barcelona from next season?

It seems that Roque’s representatives are also keen on seeing him join Barcelona. But negotiations might not be straightforward as the young striker is generating significant interest from Premier League clubs.

Athletico Paranaense is expected to demand a transfer fee of around €45-50 million for Vitor Roque. Since, he is in high demand from several top clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United. This could make negotiations for the young striker challenging for Barcelona. Since, they are currently facing financial constraints. However, Roque’s desire to play for Barcelona and his father’s recent visit to Catalonia to hear about the club’s plans suggest that the Spanish giants remain in the mix for his signature.

Hence, it seems that Aubameyang is still a potential option for Barcelona if they are unable to sign Roque. The 33-year-old has experience playing for the club and has a good relationship with the squad and Xavi. However, Barcelona will only consider signing him if he arrives for free. As the club is currently facing financial issues. It remains check if they will pursue Aubameyang if they are unable to secure Roque’s signing.
