SC East Bengal sign CFL top scorer Rahul Paswan

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

SC East Bengal have signed the coveted Rahul Paswan from BSS Sporting Club of the Calcutta Football League. The Red and Gold Brigade have struggled to compete in this season of the Indian Super League. They managed to win their only match recently when they overcame Northeast United FC.

Rahul Paswan has been bought in to address the lack of goals from their misfiring frontline. SC East Bengal have scored 13 goals from their 11 matches, the 2nd-lowest in the league.

The 23-year-old forward has already bagged 6 goals in the Calcutta Football League. The striker has been given a 6-month contract until the end of the season to prove his credentials to the franchise. He has plied his trade in the local Bengal circuit for football and has finally made it to the big stage.

There is no bigger juncture than the Indian Super League and the United Sports Club graduate has finally made it to the big bucks. It is always a pleasant sight to see an Indian make it to the big teams of the ISL and this is another instance. The ISL proves to be a benchmark and dream for local players. ISL has also become a pathway to the National team, hence fulfilling its aim of promoting Indian Football.

He will now have to undergo a mandatory quarantine period before joining the SC East Bengal squad. With the rising number of Covid-19 cases, squad depth is an important factor for teams to fulfill the matchday requirements.

Marco Rivera will be delighted with the new signing and now has one more striker to partner him. The Indian forward will compete against Perosevic and Daniel Chukwu for a spot in the starting XI.
