SC East Bengal keen to sign Arindam Bhattacharya

Kolkata Giants SC East Bengal are close to signing Arindam Bhattacharya from ATK Mohun Bagan. The custodian has one more year in his contract with the ATK Mohun Bagan.

Previously club EastBengal and their investor Shree cement were in the tussle over the signing of the final agreement. And the participation of the club in the upcoming ISL season went on declining over time. Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Ms Mamata Banerjee stepped into the matter and eventually solved the problem between the club and the investor. And the club is now set to participate in the ISL 2021.

As per reports by Khel Now, SC EastBengal are eyeing to sign Golden Glove winner Arindam Bhattacharya from ATK Mohun Bagan.

However, ATK Mohun Bagan who are currently representing India in the continental level football (AFC Cup) have released the player on Saturday. Despite having one more year with the ATK Mohun Bagan Arindam would prefer to move to the SC EastBengal. Amrinder Singh is also a Mariner and is also getting chances to play. Amrinder started in all the fixtures in the Group stage of the AFC Cup.

The Red and Gold Brigade will now try to sign players and start their preparation for the upcoming ISL season.

Football Carrer of Arindam

Arindam had joined Tata Football Academy in 2004. He got the India U-19 team call after his excellent performance at the Subrato Cup.

The custodian then went on to join the Sports Authority of Indian in 2006. Having spent two years at SAI he began his professional career as he joined the I-League club Churchill Brothers. In his six years of stay at Churchill Brothers, he featured in 240 fixtures. Moreover, he was a part of the Red Machines squad that won the I-League title 2008-2009.

For the next two years, he played for Mohun Bagan and came back to the Red machines after completing his spell at Mohun Bagan.

He made his ISL debut in 2014 playing for Pune City FC. Unfortunately, he just played 16 matches for the Pune-based club and was loaned out for three consecutive seasons.

Arindam joined two times Indian Super League winner ATK back in 2018 and soon became the first choice goalkeeper of the club. And since then played for the ATK till last season.
