Special Edition kit crashes Borussia Dortmund Website

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

It is not new for clubs to introduce special edition special kits. While many fail to live up to the hype, Borussia Dortmund delivered a masterpiece kit. The kit turned so many heads that, their club website crashed owing to the immense traffic.

The new jersey dubbed NULL NE90N was worn against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. The Kit is a homage to the 1990s, a period when the club enjoyed great success.

New Null Ne90n kit for Dortmund

NULL NE90N was introduced with a special message to the fans. ” Every era begins with the will of its heroes”. The 1990s were the time of the club’s history when it introduced its neon yellow jerseys.

It was the period that saw the resurgence of the club, as they won back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 1995 and 1996. They followed this with the UEFA Champions League in the 1996/97 season, their only UCL trophy. They also won the Intercontinental Cup in 1997.

The NULL NE90N is a black jersey with neon yellow trims and sleeves. The club crest is also of neon yellow colour and the kit was well accepted by the football fans across the world.

TRAFFIC GALORE

For a club known for its cult following and loyal fanbase, it is not a surprise to see huge demand for special editions kit. However, the traffic to the online website for its booking was unprecedented. More than 150,000 fans tried to enter the website at the same time. This immense traffic crashed the website, as the product was sold out within minutes.

The club had later tweeted about the technical issues and asked for apologies from the fans. They tweeted that the jersey was not a limited edition and that they are in talks with the kit manufacturer PUMA to produce more. The club stated that further information regarding availability will be updated.

The lucky few who were able to get their hands on the kit, will be flaunting it at every chance they get. But for the million others like me, the wait continues for this gem of a kit to be available again.
